Meet a few of the School Horses of Willow South

Merlin, shown here at Good Horseman show, Wills Park with Blake.    Merlin loves to teach beginners and his experience and ability make him suitable for the more advanced student.  Merlin is voted the most comfortable bare-back horse.
Barnaby is in his mid 20's.  He's been in the Edwards family since he was a 2-year-old at auction in Pennsylvania.  The only information given at that time was "not for riding."  Barnaby did go through is spirited years, but over time has become one of the staples of our riding program.  He teaches the smallest, least confident riders to the intermediate budding eventers.  He has a great deal of wisdom to impart to each of his students and he is a cherished member of the Willow South family.
Lancelot, a talented pony we purchased in 2002, is 8 years old.  He is 14.1 hands tall and has a rock-solid canter and lovely jumping form.  He is used for the intermediate to advanced students at Willow South. Shown here with advanced student, Julia Cronin.  Thanks to a 6th at Poplar Place Horse Trials (shown) and a 2nd at Paradise Farm Horse Trials, this pair is placed 2nd in the Area III Beginner Novice Eventing Championships in June '05.

Sage is 13.2 hands high.  He has been with Willow Hill and Willow South for most of his 15 years.  He is a very plucky, useful individual with a great sense of humor.  He is useful for beginner through advanced.  Shown here competing at Flar Creek July 2006 horse trials with Zoe.

Simon Says is from Ocala.  He is 15 years old and 13.1 hands high.  He is a master school pony and show pony.  We got Simon from Ken Edwards in Ocala.  Simon is well known on the Florida show circuit.  We are very fortunate to have him!  Simon is very gentle and mild and personable.  One of our newest additions has become a fast favorite!

Ginger, 19 year old registered Paint mare.  The perfect school horse.  She can teach a 4-year old child to post.  She can take a 14 year old around a 3' jump course.  The patience of a saint.

More pictures of Ginger are here

Skittles is a 9-year-old Pony of the Americas.  He's only 12.3 hands high.  He is a quiet, personable pony that's a favorite in day camp, trail rides, beginner lessons and he's also great at a horse show.  Shown here in day camp.
Capri, 9-year-old Quarter Horse gelding shown here at his summer home - Willow Hill Farm Camp.  Capri is used for beginner to intermediate riders as he takes good care not to move too fast or jump too high!
Encore, 6 year old New Forest Pony.  Shown here at Pine Top horse Trials with Jessica.  Encore came from Manoravon Farms in Ontario.  He is quiet and talented with lots of personality.  He has competed through beginner novice. More pictures here: www.willowsouth.com/encore.htm

Rascal is a 14 year old pony of unknown origin.  He is 12 hands high and very gentle with children.  He is a favorite among small beginners.  He's also glorious over fences with more advanced students.  Rascal is currently full-leased to a Willow south's Zoe, shown here at Equine Triathlon Events Combined Test at GIHP
Honey is a 4-year-old Belgian/Thoroughbred mare.  She was purchased from Elisa Wallace in 2006.  She is beginning to show a love for eventing.  She has three excellent gaits and a lot of athleticism.  We work hard not to let her know she is 16 hands high and 1300 pounds!   Shown here with Betsy schooling Big Bear in June 2007. more pics: www.willowsouth.com/honey.htm
