  • Know how to safely approach, catch, halter, lead and tie up a pony.
  • Know how to safely groom a pony and identify 5 grooming tools
  • Know how to safely tack up a pony and identify 5 parts of tack
  • Know how to safely feed a tidbit to a horse
Learning to safely catch, lead, and hold a pony is one of the early day camp lessons  
Week One Riding Objectives
  • Know how to mount and dismount a pony with or without a mounting block
  • Know how to shorten and lengthen reins correctly
  • Steer pony through a simple change of rein at walk
  • Post at trot
  • Maneuver at walk through a course of ground poles
Riders with experience further their jumping skills in day camp  
Week One Horsemanship Objective
  • Name and identify 10 parts of the horse
  • Name 3 different breeds of horses
  • Identify 5 horse colors
